Collector stories

Release notes and collecting details, checked against Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post publications.

2026 - $2 collection

What comes in the Bluey folder and five-coin set?

The tube contains five episode coins: Rain, Sleepytime, Camping, Baby Race and Granny Mobile. The folder has two extra spaces for the coloured Bluey and Bingo till coins, found separately in change at selected Australia Post stores. Each tube has a one-in-ten chance of containing the special-coloured Sleepytime coin.

Collector guide - special insert

How to identify the coloured Sleepytime coin

The special-coloured Sleepytime coin is randomly packed in the 2026 five-coin tube; it is not a separate Mint retail issue. An unopened tube keeps the one-in-ten chance unknown. Once opened, inspect the Sleepytime coin and record the coloured version as the insert variant if present. The Mint publishes the odds, not a separate mintage for this variant.

2024 AusPost Impressions - November

Four limited-edition Bluey PNCs

Australia Post’s November Impressions catalogue listed four distinct Bluey PNC editions. Their stated cover quantities were 3,000 coloured-coin covers, 1,300 two-coin covers, 700 three-coin covers and 150 silver-proof prestige covers. These are cover production quantities; the coin mintage is a separate measure.

2024 - Australia Post stamps

The Bluey MyStamps pack

The September 2024 release included 12 Bluey house-shaped stamps and an enlarged look-alike stamp. Australia Post listed the pack at an issue price of $21. Its print quantity is not published in the sources checked, so the tracker leaves stamp rarity unscored.

2024 - two release dates

Bluey Dollarbucks arrived in two waves

The June launch was the coloured Bluey, Heelers and Grannies trio, sold in individual cards or as a three-coin set. The September collection added ten designs in a tube and folder, a randomly packed special-coloured coin, privy-mark cards and other Australia Post collectables. Bluey and Bingo till coins were also released through participating post offices in September.

How to read the numbers

Mintage, produced and product limits are different things

A coin design has one mintage, but the same coin can be sold in several products. The 2024 silver coloured proof has a coin mintage of 2,650: 2,500 were sold as the standalone proof and 150 as the silver proof prestige PNC. Each product then has its own limit. The tracker shows the coin mintage and, separately, how many units of that product were produced, where the Mint has published it.

2025 - Christmas

The 2025 Bluey Christmas coins

The Royal Australian Mint released a coloured uncirculated Christmas $1 coin with a published mintage of 125,000, and a coloured silver proof in bauble packaging limited to 10,000.

2027 - Cricket

The Bluey Cricket coins

The Cricket $1 coins are announced as a coloured uncirculated coin (200,000) and a coloured silver proof in a cricket-ball tin (20,000). Early asking prices for the proof are already well above issue.

2026 - $2 collection

Privy mark cards, proofs and covers

Beyond the folder and tube, the 2026 range includes five privy mark $2 coins in cards (20,500 each), coloured aluminium-bronze (10,500) and silver (12,000) proofs, two Australia Post PNCs, and five stamp and pin covers.

💡 Show Day Collector Tips

How to make the most of your day at an Australian coin & stamp show:

  • Bring Cash & EFTPOS: While established expo dealers have card terminals, smaller club tables and swap boxes often prefer cash.
  • Protect Packaging & Cards: Bring rigid card sleeves or a folder. Blister card corners and PNC envelopes drop in value if bent in your bag!
  • Arrive Early for Postmark PNCs: Australia Post expo PNCs and show specials have strictly limited daily allocations that sell out fast.
  • Bring Your Doubles: Take your spare till coins or duplicate folder coins. Dealers and fellow collectors love fair swaps on the bourse floor.

Bluey coin questions, answered

Answers for collectors. Sold transactions and current asking prices are kept separate throughout this guide.

How many official Bluey coins are there?

This guide tracks Bluey coins, stamps and related collectables from 2024 to 2027. Mintage status distinguishes published figures, unlimited set mintages, and figures the Mint or Australia Post does not publish separately.

What is a Bluey Dollarbuck worth?

There is no reliable current estimate in this guide until recent, product-matched sold transactions are available. Open the eBay sold-search link on a coin card to inspect current completed sales; search results can include pairs and lots.

Where can I buy official Bluey coins?

Check official Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post product pages, or use the Buy Options panel for current eBay and CoinXchange asking prices. Sold searches are shown separately from active listings.

What is the rarest Bluey coin?

Among products with a published figure, the 2024 Bluey Dollarbucks $1 Fine Silver Coloured Proof has a mintage of 2,650. Some set coins have no separate mintage figure.

How should I store or display Bluey coins?

Keep blister packs sealed and out of direct sun. For display, use a made-to-order timber frame sized to the packaging: blister, proof capsule, PNC card or pin cover. Frames start at $89.

Can I find Bluey coins in everyday change or circulation?

Yes. The Royal Australian Mint released 1.25 million of the 2024 $1 Bluey Dollarbuck and 1.25 million of the 2024 $1 Bingo Dollarbuck coins directly into circulation through banks and retail tills across Australia, alongside 2026 $2 Till coins. While circulating coins show handling marks, uncirculated examples remain sealed in official mint blister cards.

What is the 1-in-10 lucky coloured insert Bluey coin?

In the 2024 Series 1 10-Coin Folder Set (Product Code 11448), 1 in every 10 folder sets produced contained a special full-colour uncirculated insert coin instead of the standard finish (Product Code 31961). Exactly 15,750 of these lucky insert folders were issued out of 157,500 total sets, making them a prime collector chase item.

Are Bluey coins legal tender in Australia?

Yes. All official Bluey coins produced by the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra are legal tender Australian currency under the Currency Act 1965, bearing denominations of $1 or $2 AUD with King Charles III or Queen Elizabeth II memorial effigies on the obverse.

How do I check if a Bluey coin listing on eBay is authentic?

Check that the coin packaging matches official Royal Australian Mint specifications: sealed tamper-evident blister packaging, official holographic security elements, correct RAM product codes, and matching serial numbers for proof certificates of authenticity. Avoid loose raw coins sold as uncirculated unless clearly graded.

What is the difference between Uncirculated (UNC) and Proof Bluey coins?

Uncirculated (UNC) Bluey coins are struck on standard production presses and sealed in carded blisters or folder sets. Proof Bluey coins are struck on specially prepared dies with mirrored background fields and frosted relief highlights, produced in strictly limited quantities (e.g. 2,650 for the 2024 Fine Silver Proof), and housed in official display cases with certificates of authenticity.
